ØThe JD906/JD9XX series of diagnostic tools are specially designed to be used with all OBD2-compliant vehicles, including (CAN) communication protocol. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency requires that all vehicles (cars and light trucks) sold in the United States in 1996 and newer must meet the requirements of OBD2, including all vehicles in the United States, Asia and Europe.
ØA small number of gasoline vehicles in 1994 and 1995 meet the OBD2 standard. To verify whether the 1994 or 1995 vehicles meet the OBD2 standard, please check the Vehicle Emission Control Information (VECI) label under the hood or next to the radiator of most cars. If the vehicle meets the OBD2 standard, the OBD2 certification will be indicated on the label. In addition, government regulations require that all vehicles that comply with the OBD2 standard must have a universal 16-pin data connector-DLC. And the vehicle emission control information label must state that the vehicle complies with OBD2.
